It infographic looks at the 44 closest stars to us, analyzing the size, luminosity, constellations, systems and possible planets of each star.
Apart from the sun, Alpha Centauri is Earth's closest star at a stunning distance of about 4.3 light years away. In fact, Alpha Centauri is a triple star system that includes 4,244 light years of Proxima Centauri, 4,365 light years of Alpha Centauri A and 4,37 light years of Alpha Centauri .
But in theory Proxima Centauri is the closest star. Alpha Centauri A represents the largest and brightest star in the system. This is about 10% bigger than our sun, 22% bigger and 150% brighter.
