The Society's yankee temperament test has been administering the Temperament test for canine breeds since 1977. Additionally, the Temperament measures "stability, shyness, aggressiveness, and friendliness, since the dog's tendency to warm-heartedness towards its owner and/or protection in the face of a threat." The test simulates a district or park operation where things happen everyday.
The dog experiences visual stimuli (sudden sights like gap umbrellas), exteroception (sounds like explosions and hidden noises), and tactile stimuli (walking over various types of surfaces). The exercise jointly tests their behavior against friendly, neutral, and hostile aliens.
