As Airbnb is ravaged by the coronavirus we looked at how serious the situation is for hosts. To be frank, as has been shown by dramatic declines worldwide since March, the network was in a very tough situation. Rental analytics company AirDNA positions numbers at disaster level: Fresh reservations are down 85 per cent The cancelation rate was approximately 90 per cent $1.5 billion has been washed out on bookings.
No travel means no rental income for guests, with plenty of world lock-downs. But for their own mortgage and rental payments they 're already on the line, and they're in a serious cash-flow pinch. This is especially worrying for those 'super hosts' who have built entire businesses across the Airbnb network and a portfolio of multiple properties.
