Is the label Made in India relevant to consumers? The answer to that is yes and no. While "Made in India" was the country's most popular label – viewed even more favorably than "Made in the US" or "Made in Germany" – quality , price, and brand name still mattered more to consumers than where a product was manufactured.

Indians were most likely to inspect a country of origin label for food, but also for phones and cars, according to a survey by YouGov – all options with a good variety of products made locally and/or by local brands. Fewer Indians go by the origin name when it comes to alcoholic beverages, perhaps representing a consumer segment with weaker home-grown choices and labels.
