We wanted to go the extra mile and identify exactly how individuals access music on a daily basis with the investigation into how smartphones have changed the music scene well under way. To do so, we have run a public contest and survey, asking individuals to identify their songs of guilty pleasure as well as how they listen to them.
The data revealed that subscription platforms are considerably superior to more conventional modes of listening. For eg, 37 per cent of entrants favoured Spotify. This may not be as surprising as the platform currently caters to more than 300 million users worldwide.

What could come as a shock, though, is that only 9.25 percent of entrants identified Apple Music as their go-to music provider indicating that Spotify is four times as popular among our respondents as Apple's streaming service! Given that Apple Music is frequently praised as Spotify's biggest rival in the UK, this means the difference might be wider than commonly believed.
