While it looked like the United States had already seen the height of the COVID-19 crisis in terms of new cases in April, a new surge has brought a series of much higher one-day figures since around the end of June a phenomenon that Dr. Anthony Fauci described as 'disturbing,' originally citing 'increased population spread' in a number of southern and western states as the main driving force. Looking ahead, Fauci warned the U.S. as well. Senate said in the near future, he wouldn't be surprised if regular cases reached the 100,000 mark.
