Marriage at the Supreme Court #infographic

In history, for the first time, the U.S. Two gay rights cases are heard in a single term by the Supreme Court. One lawsuit challenges California's Prop 8, which has removed the right of same-sex couples in that state to marry. The other obstacles include the so-called Protection of Marriage Act (DOMA), which prohibits the federal government from acknowledging same-sex couples' marriages.
