With about 43 million hectares of land dedicated to organic farming worldwide, the market for organic produce is still higher than ever before. According to a FiBL-IFOAM survey, worldwide organic product sales reached $72 billion in 2013. With retail sales amounting to $26.7 billion, the United States had the highest demand for organic food that year. With $8.3 billion, Germany was in second place, while France rounded off the top three with $4.8 billion. The EU as a whole, however, has come close to matching the US with organic retail revenues worth $24.56 billion in 2013.
