On Wednesday, January 21, 2015, a new version of Microsoft Windows 10 was released in Microsoft's hometown of Redmond, Washington. The firm disclosed that for the first year, the Windows 10 update would be free for Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users. Executives failed to take note of the pricing structure during the Question & Answer session after the presentation.
There are several new changes from the announcement in which Microsoft has framed Windows-as-a-Service that will allow developers to operate across all Windows devices, as well as enhancements for better security. The Company also announced the launch of Cortana and the Spartan Internet web browser across all Windows computers. By making improvements to the latest OS version and enhancements to increase the user experience, Microsoft has tried to address the Start Screen flaw.
