Many people know the vinegar and baking soda trick. Simply dump some hot water down your stuck drain and follow it with equal parts of bakery soda and vinegar (first bakery soda). Cover the drain with a plug if you have one and let it sit 20 to 30 minutes.
The idea is to apply pressure and corrosive action to the blockage, break it down and clear the pipe. However, some experts claim that the resulting pressure does not impact the obstruction, because it can escape through the open drain. The only ingredient that works on the barrier is hot water. That being said, they think that too.
