Online dating has grown in importance in the age of social media and digital communication. Dating websites and apps are used by roughly 19 percent of all internet users in the United States. When we look at just singles, we find that 66 percent have used internet dating. 

If you're thinking about trying online dating or have already tried and failed, you might be wondering if dating apps actually lead to love. Find out how likely users of dating apps are to progress from messaging to a long-term relationship.

Using Dating Apps to Make Connections: While there may be a large number of online dating accounts, how many of those people are looking for love? According to a study by SimpleTexting, the majority of dating app users are seeking for long-term relationships. While almost 41% of all users are looking for love, it is significantly skewed toward females, with 44.1 percent of females seeking a long-term relationship vs 38.4% of males. 

Other common motivations for using dating apps include casual relationships (18.7%), making new acquaintances (11.7%), and boosting self-esteem (11.7%). (6.2 percent ). There are even individuals who go out in order to receive free beverages or food (1.9 percent ).
