Marijuana legislation is rapidly evolving. Furthermore, popular perceptions of marijuana are shifting dramatically. According to the Pew Research Center, public opinion in the United States has altered over the previous two decades, with 31% believing marijuana should be allowed in 1997 and 61 percent believing it should be legalized in 2017.
There may be a contradiction between state, federal, and municipal laws in this quickly changing judicial environment. However, the marijuana sector is experiencing a boom, with retail sales expected to reach $14.5 billion in 2018. To put it in perspective, the 2018 prediction for cash collections from all grains, including rice and wheat, is $10.6 billion.
